What should I do if something on my phone isn't working?

  1. Firstly, always try turning the handset off and on again as this can refresh activity on the phone and fixes many common problems.
  2. If this hasn't worked then visit our settings page to make sure your device has the correct settings.
  3. If your phone still isn't working after a restart, then please call us on 800 (or 0800 284 800 from a non-Warehouse Mobile phone) and we'll help you get things working again.

I can't send text messages from my phone

If you cannot send text messages from your phone, it this often means that a setting called the "Service Centre Number" or "Message Service Centre" on your phone isn't set up correctly. This needs to be set to +64220227672 for you to send messages.

To check/change this, please go into the text message options on your phone and look for "Service Centre number" or "Message Service Centre" and make sure this is set to +64220227672. This is usually under Main Menu -> Messages -> Message settings.

If you can't find this on your phone, please refer to your phone's user manual or get in touch with the manufacturer of your device.

I am having problems receiving and sending international text messages, what do I do?

It could be that international network provider is not in our global network. Unlike calls, text messages require every network around the world to 'turn on' new operators. It's a bit like connecting up the lines.

 

There are a couple of trouble-shooting options you could try:

  1. Try a hard reset of the phone. To do this, take the battery out while the phone is still going, leave it out for 20 seconds, and then pop the battery in and turn the phone on. Try sending a test text to someone who hasn't been able to send you text messages.
  2. Go into the Text Message Options to look for "Service Centre number" or "Message Service Centre" and make sure this is set to +64 22 022 7672. This is usually under Menu > Messages > Message settings.
  3. Call barring could affect sending and receiving text messages. Try dialling #35*0000# and #333*0000# to deactivate all incoming and outgoing call barring.
  4. Check that you have coverage on your phone when you're sending the text, and see if the person you're getting the text from can confirm there are no network outages at their end.
  5. Try the SIM card in another phone and see if the same thing happens. If it does, there's a problem with the SIM card, and we can replace it free of charge. If you don't have the same problem, then the issue is with the phone, and you may need to get it looked at.

Calls: are per minute (part mins are rounded up to the nearest minute).

Text : are per text.

Data charges are rounded up to the nearest 8kb then rounded to the nearest full cent. Minimum 1c charge per session.

If the country you're looking for is not listed you may not currently be able to use your Warehouse Mobile there. This list can change, so check back the next time you travel.

Topping Up

It's best to top up with plenty of credit to see you through your trip, but if you need to top up abroad you can top up online with your credit card through My Warehouse Mobile, or call +64 284 800 800 to do it over the phone. Roaming calls to this number will be charged as per the rates shown in the table.

Connection issues?

Set your network mode to 'Auto'. If you're experiencing connection issues then make sure your Network search mode is on 'Auto' which is found under 'Settings' and then 'Network' on your phone (or 'Carrier' on iPhones). If this doesn't fix the issue, then remove your phone battery (iPhone users power off) for 1 minute if you still can't connect.

The USA or Canada can be a little different

North American mobile networks run on 850MHz and 1900MHz, so check your phone will run on one of these before you hop on the plane.

Calling Customer Care or your voicemail whilst overseas is charged on a per-minute basis like any other international call.

Please note not all overseas carriers will support voicemail/call forwarding. To cancel call forwarding simply dial ##004#. Your message service will then operate as normal when you arrive back in New Zealand without incurring any cost.
