What does 4g stand for and what does it mean?

4G is the 4th Generation of mobile technology. 2G was calls and texts, 3G introduced better mobile data and 4G now brings you increased data speeds, up to 10 times faster than standard 3G. 4G is also known as “LTE” – this stands for “Long Term Evolution”. Some handsets will display “4G” at the top of the screen and others will show “LTE”.
